It’s time for another weekly Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is our most anticipated releases of the second half of the year. We have each picked our top ten that we’re looking forward to in the next six months!
Felicia’s Top 10
This year has been an amazing year for new releases and there are so many that I’m looking forward to in the next six months! Here are my top ten that I’m looking forward to in order of their release date!
Queen of Ruin – Tracy Banghart
I’ve needed this book since the moment I finished Grace and Fury! I have no idea what is to come in this story, but I need it and I’m so excited that it’s only a few weeks from being released.
Spin the Dawn – Elizabeth Lim
I’m so ready for this book! Project Runway meets Mulan is the book of my dreams. This sounds like it could be amazing and I can’t wait to read it as soon as possible.
Containment – Caryn Lix
I’ve been ready for Containment from the moment I finished Sanctuary! That book was everything I never knew I wanted and I can only imagine what’s going to happen in the follow up!
The Girl the Sea Gave Back – Adrienne Young
I absolutely can’t wait to return to this amazing world that Adrienne Young has created. I’m so thankful that I was given an ARC of this one because I know I can’t wait much longer to read it.
Serpent & Dove – Shelby Mahurin
This is one of the ones I know less about than others, but I’m still so very excited for this book. It sounds epic and like a story I could love so I’m very hopeful for it and can’t wait for it to be released.
American Royals – Katharine McGee
All I needed to know about this book was that it revolved around royalty and it immediately got added to the list of books I wanted to purchase this year. Books that focus on royalty, especially in a contemporary setting, are ones I will always buy. This one sounds like it could be really good and I can’t wait for it.
The Babysitters Coven – Kate Williams
This is another that I don’t know too much about, but I’m really looking forward to it. It sounds like it could be a really fun book to read while also making me feel nostalgic of my adolescent years of reading The Babysitter’s Club.
Winterwood – Shea Ernshaw
The Wicked Deep quickly became one of my favorite books of 2018 so it’s no surprise that this is one of my most anticipated books for this year. I honestly have no clue what this book is about, but I’m ready for it to come out so I can read it and find out.
Girls of Storm and Shadow – Natasha Ngan
Girls of Paper and Fire absolutely captivated me and I can’t wait for the sequel. I can only imagine the situations that will happen and how things will develop!
The Queen of Nothing – Holly Black
I feel like my list would be absolutely incomplete without adding The Queen of Nothing to it. After the way The Wicked King ended, I need this and I’m so excited that the release date was pushed up so it’s coming sooner than it was!
Stephanie’s Top 10
2019 is FULL of some amazing books, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to read them all, but I’m definitely going to try! Here are the ten coming out later this year that I am the most excited about in order of their release dates!
Maybe This Time – Kasie West
Kasie West has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary novelists! I love all of her cute, quirky love stories, and I’m sure this one will be no different! I love this title, and I can’t wait to see what kind of story she’s come up with next!
House of Salt and Sorrows – Erin A. Craig
This book makes me excited just because of the cover! It’s so gorgeous and compelling, I can’t wait to dive right in! Thankfully, I have an ARC of this one, so I won’t have to wait until August to read it, but that doesn’t make me any less excited for it’s release!
Containment – Caryn Lix
I loved Sanctuary so much, which is really surprising because I am usually NOT an alien type of girl. But Caryn Lix did such an amazing job with it that it left me craving book 2! Catch me at Barnes and Noble on release day for this one!
Tiger Queen – Annie Sullivan
I love Annie Sullivan. I loved A Touch of Gold (can’t wait for book 2 on that one!). But what really solidified her in my heart is when I got to chat with her through one of the TBR and Beyond author events! She is so sweet and down to earth – and she teased this book. Which of course just made me want to read it more! (Thankfully I have an ARC of this one too, so guess what’s going on my TBR for July!)
The Queen of Nothing – Holly Black
Ok, not gonna lie, I still haven’t read Wicked King, so I kind of feel like a hypocrite to have this on my list. But hear me out. Everyone keeps telling me that the ending of Wicked King will have me begging for book three…so really, I’m smart to wait! The release for this book will finally release me to read books two AND three! So technically, it’s on my list twice.
Supernova – Marissa Meyer
Marissa Meyer is a hit-or-miss author for me. Some of her books I love and others I’ve DNFd…multiple times. This series though has captured my heart and taken me for a wild ride. I love all of these characters, and she has left me on a cliffhanger at every turn for this series! I need to devour this book the SECOND it comes out!
Blood Heir – Amèlie Wen Zhao
All of the controversy over this book has left it as sort of an enigma for me! I was blessed to receive the ARC for this book before the shit hit the fan. I personally haven’t found any issue with the original draft (not that I was expecting to, seeing as the issues came from someone who hadn’t read it yet), but I’m interested to see if anything gets changed when this book releases on it’s new release date!
The Sky Weaver – Kristen Ciccarelli
This is another series that has captured my soul! I loved books one and two, and I cannot wait for book three to knock my socks off! I love high fantasy, and I am so excited for more of the Iskari series! Bring on the dragons!
The How & The Why – Cynthia Hand
I am very excited for this novel. I think adoption is such a beautiful thing, and I don’t think that it gets the representation that it deserves. I’m so excited for this contemporary that follows the main character as she tries to connect with her birth mother. I think that real stories like this one can be some of the most powerful, and I cannot wait to see how Cynthia Hand portrays this.
Children of Virtue & Vengeance – Tomi Adeyemi
I think that by now we are all aboard the Children of Orisha train (though some may have dropped off after Tomi clapped back at Nora Roberts). I really loved the first book in this series, and I cannot wait to dive back into this realm and see how the story develops from here! For a debut author, Adeyemi really has a great skill with words!
What books are you looking forward to in the second half of 2019?
Felicia and Stephanie
I don’t think these made my list but I mean so many of them should have lol I only picked five and it was near impossible LOL Great list guys!

I can’t wait to read The Babysitters Coven! I don’t know that much about it either, but I love the concept for it.

Yes to Queen of Nothing! I also got to read Blood Heir before they delayed the book, and I’m glad that they decided to go forward with publishing it. I got an ARC of Spin the Dawn and I thought it was pretty good.

Spin The Dawn was on my list this week too! I would have had Children of Virtue and Vengeance but it was on my beginning of year list, before the release date changed!

Blood Heir also made my list. It was not on my radar until I heard about the controversy–I immediately added it to my TBR after that. I’m glad it’s going to be published.
I was also on the fence about Children of Vice and Virtue after the Nora Roberts fiasco, but I’m still curious to see what happens in the series, so I’m going to continue

Hooray for a new Kasie West novel. Her books are always my favorite; they’re just so cute and fun, like sunshine. 🙂 I’m curious about “American Royals” but don’t know if it’ll be a good I adore. I’ve also been seeing a lot about “Serpent and Dove” on YouTube post-BEA. It looks dark and intense!
Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.

I was going to reply to my favourites that you all listed BUT then I realized that would mean just parroting everything back so I’ll spare you! BUT, I’m definitely looking forward to American Royals, The Babysitters Coven and The Queen of Nothing above all else, I think! Great picks, ladies!

I love your list! Someone else mentioned the controversy of Blood Heir on one of my diversity posts, so it made me read more into what was going on. I’m so glad that she’s going to publish her book in November. Thanks for this awesome list.
