The New Year’s Book Tag 2021

I was scrolling through trying to catch up on blog posts I missed while I took a small break and found this tag that Twirling Book Princess did. I probably should have posted this within the first couple days of January, but better a little late than never!

This book tag is originally made by: Heather @Bookables.

How many books are you planning to read in 2021?

My Goodreads goal is set to 250, but I really hope to beat it! I have yet to not beat a goal that I set (knocking on wood as I say this!) and definitely think I can do so again this year.

Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2021.

This one was a little harder for me as I recently completely cleared my Want to Read shelf on Goodreads except for the books I’m most anticipating in 2021.

The first two I’m definitely hoping to get to this year are The Prince of Broadway and The Devil of Downtown by Joanne Shupe. I told myself I was going to start branching out in my genres in 2020, but never did. After the year that we all experienced, I wanted to stick within my comfort zone as much as possible. I really enjoyed the first book in this series though and definitely want to read these soon!

When it comes to the next book, The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black, I really don’t have much of an explanation. I could have easily read this in the last part of 2019 or even all of 2020, but I never did. I definitely would like to reread The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King and then finish off this series.

The fourth book, I want to get to in 2021 is definitely The Roommate by Rosie Danan. I bought this not long after it’s release date so I had plenty of time to do so and don’t really know what held me back. I’m definitely making it a priority this year!

Finally, I really want to get to The Prophecy by Jennifer L. Armentrout this year. I spent the majority of December reading the Covenant series and all but this book in the Titan series. I could have read it before 2020 ended, but it’s definitely a series I’m not wanting to end so I put it off.

What genre do you want to read more of?

I definitely want to read more historical books this year! I’ve really enjoyed the very few historical romances that I read in the past and definitely want to read more of them this year!

Name 3 non book related goals for 2021.

I’m very bad at this! To keep it easy for me, I think three non book related goals would be:

  1. Get outside more
  2. Work on my embroidery for a few hours each week
  3. Post on my blog more consistently

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

That would definitely be Heartless by Marissa Meyer. I’ve had this book for at least three years now. In one of the very first months of playing a reading challenge game, the ending got spoiled to me in a group chat and ever since then I’ve been putting it off.

One word that your hoping 2021 will be.

Peaceful! 2020 was hard and hectic and I just really want a peaceful year.

 Tag a friend!

I tag anyone who would also like to do it!
