First Line Fridays | January 6, 2023
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, follow the rules below:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

This year, I’m hoping to share more about what I am reading. To try to achieve that, I have decided to participate in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? that is hosted by The Book Date. In the past this wouldn’t have been something I would have considered doing as I typically read many books in a week, but as I am back in school and taking several courses, the amount of time that I have to read books has lessened.
This week, I plan to hopefully read quite a bit as the next semester of my classes does not begin until January 9th.

Happy New Year!
Another year has come and gone and once again, I ended up taking most of December off. The end of November was a rough one for my family as we had a death in the family and we started December off with a funeral. The break this past month was definitely needed as we processed emotions and took time to heal.
I also chose to go back to school this back semester to pursue a Paraprofessional Education degree. After many years of being out of school, I think I have finally figured out what I would like to do. This was exciting for me as I have spent the last nine years as a stay at home mom.
As 2023 begins, I look forward to being more active on my blog like I was in the first half of 2022! I’m so excited for this new chapter and thankful for all of those who choose to join me!
