I’m finally back with a recent reads post! January ended up being very hectic and crazy and I just didn’t have the time in the moment to write down all my thoughts about all the books. I do plan to go back and write out reviews for the rest of what I read in January, but for now, this is what I read from February 1st to 6th.

Recent Reads – January 10, 2021
I realized in 2020 that I have a hard time writing full length reviews for every single book that I read. I typically read over 200 books and sometimes multiple books in a single day. It gets to be overwhelming at times to try to find the time to write that many full reviews. While I will still be posting some full length reviews, I’m not going to stress myself over writing one for everything I read. As of now, this will be an every other week post where I do a mini wrap up of all the things I’ve recently read, a short review, and my rating of the book. My hope is that this will allow for me to get my feelings out about all the books I read, but not be as stressful.

Title: The Tea Dragon Society
Author: Katie O’Neill
Genre: Fantasy Graphic Novel
Pages: 72
Publication Date: October 31, 2017
Rating: 5/5
Synopsis:
From the award-winning author of Princess Princess Ever After comes The Tea Dragon Society, a charming all-ages book that follows the story of Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, and the people she meets as she becomes entwined in the enchanting world of tea dragons.
After discovering a lost tea dragon in the marketplace, Greta learns about the dying art form of tea dragon care-taking from the kind tea shop owners, Hesekiel and Erik. As she befriends them and their shy ward, Minette, Greta sees how the craft enriches their lives—and eventually her own.
I first read The Tea Dragon Society in 2019 when I received it as an extra book in an OwlCrate box. This is one that I read so fast and not just because it’s under a hundred pages! It’s one of those that immediately hooked me and I knew I would love from the very first page. After having read everything that I’ve been able to get my hands on, I definitely think Katie O’Neill’s art style is one of my absolute favorites! It’s always one of the first things I notice and always get so excited to see what will be next because they’re so beautiful.
“Memories don’t just live inside you, Minette. They live in all the people and objects you share your life with.”
― Katie O’Neill, The Tea Dragon Society
The Tea Dragon Society is the first in a series about Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, who rescues a little tea dragon. The tea dragons get their names based on what type of tea leaves they grow. Greta rescues Jasmine, but during the duration of the book, we also have Rooibos and Chamomile along with some others.
I just adore this graphic novel so much. While it may be short, it packs a punch. It’s full of gorgeous artwork, beautiful messages, and a captivating story that I can’t wait to share with my children soon.
