I’m finally back with a recent reads post! January ended up being very hectic and crazy and I just didn’t have the time in the moment to write down all my thoughts about all the books. I do plan to go back and write out reviews for the rest of what I read in January, but for now, this is what I read from February 1st to 6th.

Follow Your Arrow by Jessica Verdi
4/5 stars
I don’t want to fully give my thoughts on this one yet because I’m part of the book tour for it in the beginning of March, but I absolutely loved this book. This deals with so many important things and I can’t wait for more people to be able to read it! So good and definitely want to read more from Jessica Verdi!

The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn
4/5 stars
I enjoyed this so much more than The Duke and I! I was a little worried because Anthony wasn’t one of the ones I was really excited to read about, but I ended up really liking his story. The slight enemies to lovers was a nice touch as well! The bickering back and forth between Kate and Anthony was something that kept me interested in it. I did feel like something was missing with the romance and that ended up bumping my rating down. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series though.

Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen
4/5 stars
This was a reread for me when I needed a break from a fantasy book. It’s been awhile since I’ve read Midnight Blue (3 years to be exact!) and I loved it just as much as I remember from my first read of it.
Rockstar romances are one of my absolute favorites and this one is no exception. While this one is darker than others I’ve read, it’s handled in such a way that I’m always completely hooked.

Sweet Surrender by Sav R. Miller
3/5 stars
I read this in preparation for the third book that’s coming out soon. The synopsis for the books really intrigued me, but this one just lacked a little for me. The romance didn’t have much going for it in my opinion. I will continue with the series because I have more hope for the next one.

Never Saw You Coming by Erin Hahn
5/5 stars
Similarly to Follow Your Arrow, I really want to dedicate a full review to this one so I won’t fully talk about this one, but I absolutely loved it. I devoured it in one single day and was hooked from the beginning. This was no surprise as I’ve loved both of Erin Hahn’s previous releases. This deals with some tougher topics and does have a section where suicide is talked about. I really feel like Erin Hahn does such an amazing job with dealing with these though and always creates an amazing story. I can’t wait to see what else is to come from her!

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
5/5 stars
I’ve read this every year since it was released and it never stops being amazing. I listened to the audiobook once again and I just love getting to hear the author read her own work. This is definitely one I will always come back to!

Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce
3/5 stars
Like a couple of the previous books, I will be waiting until a tour date to fully share my thoughts about this book, but I had a really enjoyable time reading it. The story was pretty predictable, but at the time I was looking for an easy book to read so I didn’t mind it at all. I look forward to future releases from Kristy Boyce.

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna
5/5 stars
The Gilded Ones was honestly way different than I went in thinking it would be. This was darker than I expected it to be, but it is packed full of so many important topics. Super feminist and is an empowering young adult book with an amazing cast of diverse characters. I absolutely can’t wait to read more from Namina Forna in the future.

A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole
4/5 stars
I read this for the first time last year, but did so at a time when there was a lot going on and never got around to continuing the series. I wanted to reread it prior to continuing on with the series. I listened to the audiobook this time and really enjoyed the experience. This was really fun and an easy read. Highly recommend this one and I can’t wait to read the next book!
