Mid Year Check In on my Most Anticipated of 2021

We’re halfway through 2021 and I wanted to check in on if my most anticipated books for this year. My goal by the end of June 2021 was to read at least half of my most anticipated books and I haven’t quite hit that, but I’m close! So far I’ve read 9 out of the 21 books on my list.

TITLE: You Have a Match
AUTHOR: Emma Lord
RELEASE DATE: January 2, 2021

I read this early on in 2021 and absolutely loved it! Emma Lord has quickly become a favorite author for me and I already can’t wait for her next book.

This one definitely dealt with a heavier topic than Tweet Cute did, but it still held onto the romance, amazing friendship dynamics, and the close family aspects of the story. This one definitely didn’t disappoint!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

TITLE: Cast in Firelight
AUTHOR: Dana Swift
RELEASE DATE: January 19, 2021

Cast in Firelight is another one I read early on in 2021 and I also was on a book tour for it! I absolutely loved this one and can’t wait for the sequel!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

TITLE: Make Up Break Up
AUTHOR: Lily Menon
RELEASE DATE: February 2, 2021

I haven’t gotten to this one yet, but it’s still one I’m really looking forward to. Hopefully in the second half of the year I’ll get to it!

TITLE: Sweet & Bitter Magic
AUTHOR: Adrienne Tooley
RELEASE DATE: March 9, 2021

I really enjoyed this one! Not as much as some others I’ve read, but I’ve come to expect the majority of the YA I read is going to be a 4 star book. I don’t think I was quite ready to read about a plague (albeit a magical one) and that might have had a little to do with it. I absolutely love that this is a standalone though!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

TITLE: Perfect on Paper
AUTHOR: Sophie Gonzales
RELEASE DATE: March 9, 2021

I’m so sad I haven’t gotten to Perfect on Paper yet! I absolutely loved Only Mostly Devastated and this one was high on my list to read. I’m definitely prioritizing this one for a book I read soon!

TITLE: Blessed Monsters
AUTHOR: Emily A. Duncan
RELEASE DATE: April 6, 2021

While I absolutely love this series, I’m a little on the fence on if I’ll read this one this year.

TITLE: The Crown of Gilded Bones
AUTHOR: Jennifer L. Armentrout
RELEASE DATE: April 20, 2021

I absolutely loved this book! At this point I think I’ll read anything the Jennifer L Armentrout puts out, but this series is one of my favorites of hers. I adore the characters in the story and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

TITLE: Counting Down With You

I haven’t gotten to this one yet either, but hope to in the next half of the year!

TITLE: Take Me Home Tonight
AUTHOR: Morgan Matson
RELEASE DATE: May 4, 2021

I’m literally staring at the book as I type that I haven’t read this one yet. Hoping to very soon!

TITLE: Sunkissed
AUTHOR: Kasie West
RELEASE DATE: May 4, 2021

Sunkissed was so cute and amazing! I have loved all of the Kasie West that I have read and this was no exception! I even got to be on a book tour for it and interview Kasie, which can be read here!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This is another that I haven’t gotten to yet, but it’s actually on my list for July.

TITLE: The Other Side of Perfect
AUTHOR: Mariko Turk
RELEASE DATE: May 11, 2021

This one is on my list for July! I will read this one before summer is over.

TITLE: Tokyo Ever After
AUTHOR: Emiko Jean
RELEASE DATE: May 25, 2021

I wasn’t sure if I was going to end up getting to this one this year, but I’m so glad I did. This ended up being so much more than I thought it was going to be and it’s actually the start of a series as far as I can tell. I’m really excited to read more from Emiko Jean in the future.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

TITLE: One Last Stop
AUTHOR: Casey McQuiston
RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2021

I read this one on release day and really enjoyed it. I did enjoy Red, White, & Royal Blue more, but One Last Stop had so many amazing things in it! You can read my top five reasons to read the book here!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

TITLE: Grace and Glory
AUTHOR: Jennifer L. Armentrout
RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2021

This is the final book in the Harbinger series by Jennifer L Armentrout and while I won’t spoil anything, I will say this is an absolutely amazing series and I love it so much.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

TITLE: Darling
AUTHOR: K. Ancrum
RELEASE DATE: June 22, 2021

I love K. Ancrum’s books and this one is no exception! I’m so glad I prioritized this one because it was amazing.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

TITLE: The Queen Will Betray You
AUTHOR: Sarah Henning
RELEASE DATE: July 6, 2021

Similar to Grace and Glory, I’m going to be vague on this one because it’s a sequel. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to read the next book. I’m actually really glad this one went from being a duology to a series.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I haven’t read this one yet, but definitely high on my list to read soon.
