Most Anticipated Middle Grade
At the beginning of January I made a post about the 21 books I’m most anticipating for 2021. While that was the majority of what I’m very excited for, there are still some more that I can’t wait for. Middle grade books are something I always keep on my radar and this post is going to be about the 10 middle grade books I’m most anticipating for 2021. Like my original most anticipated post, these will be listed in the order of their release date.

I realized in 2020 that I have a hard time writing full length reviews for every single book that I read. I typically read over 200 books and sometimes multiple books in a single day. It gets to be overwhelming at times to try to find the time to write that many full reviews. While I will still be posting some full length reviews, I’m not going to stress myself over writing one for everything I read. As of now, this will be an every other week post where I do a mini wrap up of all the things I’ve recently read, a short review, and my rating of the book. My hope is that this will allow for me to get my feelings out about all the books I read, but not be as stressful.

I was scrolling through trying to catch up on blog posts I missed while I took a small break and found this tag that Twirling Book Princess did. I probably should have posted this within the first couple days of January, but better a little late than never!
This book tag is originally made by: Heather @Bookables.

Every year I try to set some goals for my reading. More often than not, I unfortunately fail a lot of them, but I still have some that I would like to try to obtain this year. While I do still have some goals for this year, I’m definitely lowering the amount of them and being kinder to myself with the ones I am giving myself.

It’s 2021! I’m very much glad that 2020 is over and can only hope that 2021 is calmer than 2020 was. Today I’m sharing my most anticipated books of 2021. This is always a hard list for me to narrow down because I get excited about a lot of books each year, but somehow I narrowed it down to just twenty-one books. These will be listed in order of current known publication date, but I’m very excited for them all!

TITLE: Spoiler Alert
AUTHOR: Olivia Dade
PUBLICATION DATE: October
PAGES: 416
RATING: 5/5
SYNOPSIS
Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. While the world knows him as Aeneas, the star of the biggest show on TV, Gods of the Gates, he’s known to fanfiction readers as Book!AeneasWouldNever, an anonymous and popular poster. Marcus is able to get out his own frustrations with his character through his stories, especially the ones that feature the internet’s favorite couple to ship, Aeneas and Lavinia. But if anyone ever found out about his online persona, he’d be fired. Immediately.
April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s hidden her fanfiction and cosplay hobby from her “real life” for years—but not anymore. When she decides to post her latest Lavinia creation on Twitter, her photo goes viral. Trolls and supporters alike are commenting on her plus-size take, but when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her pic and asks her out on a date to spite her critics, she realizes life is really stranger than fanfiction.
Even though their first date is a disaster, Marcus quickly realizes that he wants much more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. And when he discovers she’s actually Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to hide from her.
With love and Marcus’s career on the line, can the two of them stop hiding once and for all, or will a match made in fandom end up prematurely cancelled?
REVIEW
I’ve had very high hopes for Spoiler Alert for awhile! While I have never read anything by Olivia Dade, I was really excited by the premise for it and a lot of the aspects of the book. I’m so glad that it didn’t disappoint!
I read this with Candyce from The Book Dutchesses along with several other people in TBR and Beyond for our November pick for Swoon Along. This is a monthly read along that Candyce and I host and I was so excited when it won the poll to be our read for November.
This is a book that I was sucked into from the start and never wanted to stop reading! For me, this is always a good thing because if I’m having to force myself to read a book, I know I’m not enjoying it. This is one of those books where I was rooting for the relationship from the very start.
I absolutely loved seeing the fandom part in this book. It’s something I really enjoy in stories and I think it was done so well in Spoiler Alert. Both April and Marcus write fanfiction based on the show that Marcus plays a character in. I really enjoyed the little snippets of fanfiction and actually found myself wishing we could have gotten more of them than just the little sneak peeks we got here and there.
The romance in this book was probably one of my favorites of the year when it comes to contemporaries that I read. While yes, it’s far from perfect, it felt genuine because what relationship is perfect.
I absolutely loved this book and definitely can’t wait for the sequel to come out in 2021!
